Task Force Foundation was founded by members of the Veteran and military community who recognized that after a service member makes the ultimate sacrifice, their families often face real and ongoing financial burdens. The Foundation’s mission is both simple and powerful: to provide direct financial support to Gold Star families as they navigate loss and transition following the death of a service member. A Gold Star family is one that has experienced the loss of an immediate family member—spouse, parent, child, or sibling—while serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces. The term originates from the tradition of displaying a service flag with a gold star to honor that loved one’s sacrifice.

The impact of losing a service member extends far beyond emotional grief. Many families face sudden loss of income, unexpected expenses, and the challenge of planning for a future without their spouse or parent.
